Milwaukee: According to Jenna Kashou
Jenna Kashou knows Milwaukee. Born and raised in Brew City, Kashou has made a career for herself covering events around town. If the name of this lifestyle writer is familiar to you, it may be because she is a former Pfister Narrator and Milwaukee Magazine’s Girl About Town from 2012-2017, or from her byline in scores of local publications. She’s called the Eastside, Third Ward, Bay View and the North Shore her home at different points in her career and she is always ‘in the know’ regarding what is happening around town.
Kashou’s new project is a book: 100 Things to Do in Milwaukee Before You Die. Her passion for the city, coupled with her love of new experiences makes her the ideal Milwaukeean to share a compilation of essential attractions. The list of Milwaukee musts is helpfully arranged by interests, seasons, and suggested itineraries with family-friendly attractions noted to ensure the handy guidebook is user-friendly.
When asked, Jenna described her idea of a quintessentially Milwaukee day, which would include a tour at the Lakefront Brewery, a visit to the Harley Davidson Museum and end with a nightcap in Blu, the hotel’s lounge on the 23rd floor. Another hotel pick she thinks locals and visitors will enjoy equally is Afternoon Tea at the Pfister. Perfect for anyone who wants a bit of midday elegance, the hotel offers options for children and can accommodate groups.
The author hopes this book will appeal to tourists eager to quickly find information on the best Milwaukee has to offer and locals in search of hidden treasures in their hometown. Kashou plans to continue writing about Brew City and looks forward to the opportunities to put Milwaukee in the national spotlight through her work.
Meet Jenna Kashou and see the city through her eyes Thursday, May 23 from 5-7 PM in Rouge Ballroom. Attendees will enjoy a cash bar and appetizers, with books available for purchase at the event and in the Gift Shop.
