The Pfister is the place for so many things: grand parties, smart corporate events, and romantic getaways, just to name a few of them. Last Friday the hotel became a place of learning for a group of Art History students from Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.
The artists, with their instructors Dr. Margaret Schmitz, Dr. Chris Szczesny-Adams and the Chair of the school’s Art History and Science Department, Chelsea Holton, explored the hotel’s extensive art collection with current Pfister Artist in Residence, Stephanie Schultz. Students were able to draw upon their knowledge of Victorian art as Schultz introduced them to her favorite pieces on display in the hotel. The group then spent time in the Artist’s studio viewing the fashions designed by Schultz, which are inspired by the art and history of the landmark hotel.
